VIP Presentation Requirements 9th Grade Regional Studies - Mounds Park Academy

Your oral component of the VIP presentation is worth 40 points. You must be ready to present on the day you are scheduled to do so. If you have a conflict for class that day, it is your responsibility to notify me in advance of the scheduled day. Serious illness is the only "last-minute" conflict that will be accepted. You should be ready to go right at the beginning of class. I would prefer not to need to bring in elaborate equipment for these like the computer projector, etc. Getting a television and VCR is simple, but notify me in advance. Remember, the "visual" nature can be determined by you. I have seen costuming, puppet shows, cardboard cutouts, posters, drawing, pictures, maps, overheads, etc. Here are the criteria by which you will be evaluated: Criteria Points Unacceptable Satisfactory Excellent Length (w/o Q & A) 5 less than 4 minutes 4 to 5 minutes 5 to 8+ minutes Preparedness 5 not ready to present mostly ready to present ready to present Style of Presentation 5 third-person, inappropriate first-person, casual first-person, professional Delivery 5 monotone, reading, lack of expression extensive use of notes,some vocal variation and expression clear delivery, moderate to little use of notes, good communication with audience Information 10 incorrect information,surface information only, dry recitation of dates, no understanding of importance or roles understanding of key roles and accoplishments, clear presentation of important events and accomplishments/ failures thorough understanding of life and importance, presentation of useful information in clear format, clear understanding of strengths and weaknesses, incorporation of relevant quotes Visual 5 nothing visual some use of visual effective use of visual Question & Answers 5 flippant or inappropriate answers solid answers, attempts to incorporate information effective answers and speculation, incorporation of relevant information Performances that fall into the "unacceptable" range on any criteria will receive little or no points in those areas. Performances judged "satisfactory" on a criteria will typically receive 75-85% of points in those areas. Performances deemed "excellent" will on a criteria will receive all or nearly all of the points in those areas.
