Introduction

This course is an introduction to JavaScript. JavaScript allows you to make your web pages more interactive. You will be working primarily with Netscape, although most of what you will learn will apply to other web browsers. This course will emphasize the following topics:

This course requires the completion of the HTML - Level 2 course and the C - Level 1 course. The JavaScript language is still evolving. Some features do not work with all browsers or on every platform. There is no required textbook, but you may find the following books helpful:

JavaScript for Macintosh by Matt Shobe and Tim Ritchie
Netscape JavaScript Book by Peter Kent and John Kent

Requirements

To pass this course you must:

You will be working independently during this class. You will need to find time to work in the computer lab. Plan ahead since the lab is often used by classes and you will not always be able to work. The only assignment you need to show your teacher is your final project. Feel free to ask questions if you are unsure about anything.

 

Getting Started

Create a folder within your documents folder. Save all your web pages and images in this folder. You should also keep a backup copy of your files on a floppy, Zip disk, or Superdisk. You can use the Copy command in At Ease to copy your files onto one of these.
