The HTML independent study course has two parts. Part 1 is an introduction to the basics of HTML. Part 2 introduces more advanced topics in HTML like forms and frames. Most of what you will learn will apply to any web browser. This part will emphasize the following topics:
This course requires no previous experience in creating web pages. It does assume you have some experience using a web browser and some understanding of what is available on the Internet. There is no required textbook, but you may find the following book helpful:

You will be working independently during this class. The only assignments you need to show your teacher are your two projects. Feel free to ask questions if you are unsure about anything.
Create a folder within your documents folder. Save all your web pages and images in this folder. You should also keep a backup copy of your files on the student server.
Visit a web site you think is well done, and one you think is poorly done. Send me an e-mail with a one page review of these web pages. Tell me the URLs of these web sites so I can visit them myself. Tell me how the author used HTML to present their content. Tell me why you think one site is well done and the other is not.
